On December 11, 2019, Director of the Institute of Hydrobiology of the NAS of Ukraine, NASU Corresponding Member Serhiy A. Afanasyev participated in a round table on the topic: “Environmental problems and prospects for small hydropower as a renewable energy source in Ukraine”, held by the Verkhovna Rada Committee environmental policy and environmental management.
From November 6 to November 8, 2019, at the Institute of Hydrobiology NAS of Ukraine, a conference dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Dniprovska Biological Station “Perspectives on Hydroecological Research in the Context of Environmental Issues and Social Challenges” was held during the VIII Congress of the Hydroecological Society of Ukraine. The conference brought together scientists from different parts of Ukraine and foreign guests.
On September 09, 2019, the Institute of Hydrobiology of the NAS of Ukraine was visited by guests from China: Chen Ranjian (Zhuji Municipal People's Government, Deputy Mayor), Fu Heilin (Zhuji Economic Zone Development Committee, Director), Chen Jiuping (Zhuji City Bureau of Education and Sports, Vice Director), Zhe Xunyang (Bureau of Culture, Zhuji City Radio, Television and Tourism, Vice Director), Xi Weifeng (Zhuji Agriculture and Rural Bureau, Vice Director).
On July 2-3, 2019, the International seminar "Ecosystem and radioecological investigations of cooling reservoir of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant" was held, with the support of the IAEA, organized by the Institute of Hydrobiology of the NAS of Ukraine in cooperation with the State Specialized Enterprise “Chornobyl NPP” of SAUEZM of Ukraine.
A team of scientists from the Institute of Hydrobiology of the NAS of Ukraine participated in a unique international ecological event - the fourth joint international survey of the Danube River (Joint Danube Surveys 4, JDS). The second largest aquatic artery in Europe flows in the territories of 10 countries: Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine - and into the Black Sea via the Danube Delta in Romania and Ukraine.
On June 14, 2019, the staff of the Institute of Hydrobiology participated in the meeting of the Joint SATREPS Coordination Committee "Improvement of radiation control of the environment and legislative base in Ukraine for ecological rehabilitation of radioactively contaminated territories" with the scientific report "Radioecological studies of the drawing of Chernobyl water level".
